Rock Trust<\/strong><\/h2>

We are Scotland\u2019s youth homelessness charity. Our aim is to end youth homelessness in Scotland by ensuring that every young person has access to expert youth specific services to assist them to avoid, resolve and move on from homelessness. We advise, educate and support young people to enable them to build the personal skills and resources required to make a positive and healthy transition to adulthood.<\/p>

Youth homelessness<\/strong><\/h2>

When we talk about youth homelessness, we are talking about homelessness that affects young people aged 16-25.<\/p>

These are young people who may be at risk of, or who are already experiencing homelessness. <\/strong>They might be living at home with their families or carers, be at school, college or university, living in rented tenancies, sleeping rough or staying in temporary accommodation.<\/p>

What is the Youth Housing Hub?<\/h2>

The Rock Trust Youth Housing Hub in Edinburgh is a friendly space in the heart of the city where we welcome young people aged 16 -25 who are affected by, or at risk of homelessness. We offer advice around housing, benefits, and employment.\u00a0We also provide support with wellbeing and food provisions.<\/p>

Between April 2025 and March 2026 we received 868 approaches from young people for advice\/support, including emails, phone calls, drop-ins, with 551 of these contacting us for the first time.\u00a0<\/p>

In our Hub, young\u00a0people can participate in a wide range of group activities to help them develop their independent living and employability skills. We host many wellbeing and social activities including cooking, art, gardening\u00a0and music groups. Young Members<\/h3>

Youth volunteering plays a big part in the Youth Housing Hub, without our young people (known as our Young Members) engaged in volunteering tasks we wouldn't have the community we have today.<\/p>

Over the past couple of years Young Members accessing the Hub have been involved in a broad range of volunteering, including running activities such as art, cooking and gardening.<\/p>

Young Members have also been engaged in volunteering out in the community in partnership with other organisations. See our blog for some of the places we have been.<\/u><\/a><\/p>

The aim of our volunteering programme is build confidence, skills and experience to ultimately support our Young Members into employment and education.<\/p>

Between April 2024 and March 2026 Young Members clocked up over 500 hours of volunteering hours.<\/p>

Why we started the Rock Trust Shop<\/h2>

With the success of our volunteering programme we wanted to develop more opportunities for the many talented and creative young people who access our services. When discussing future goals with young people, we found the idea of setting up their own online businesses was something that regularly came up in conversation. However, they would often cite a lack of confidence, skills or knowledge to press ahead with it.<\/p>

This led us to the idea of developing an online shop project to support young people with this. Building on the volunteering we already offer, Young Members will be able to contribute art work and engage in promotional work as well as budgeting for the project. Young Members will decide how any profits from the project will be spent. We hope the project will act as a stepping stone to further opportunities for our Young
